FOJ Ambassador Program
As a Sport Ambassador the FOJ team will be able to call on you for help in locating another team in your sport; perhaps you have relationships with coaches or players on other teams that you can get us connected to.
Those who become liaisons for our team will have the option to receive community service or volunteer hours as well as letters of recommendation from our founder, Denis Murphy.
Featured FOJ Ambassador - Jimmy McKeon
Jimmy McKeon is a resilient and compassionate individual whose life journey has been defined by courage, perseverance, and a deep commitment to uplifting others. Diagnosed at the age of five with medulloblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer, Jimmy faced immense physical and emotional challenges. After undergoing complex surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, he had to relearn how to speak, swallow, and move — enduring a grueling recovery that tested his strength and spirit. Throughout it all, Jimmy never complained. Instead, he became a quiet champion, inspiring those around him with his maturity, patience, and unwavering kindness.
Today, Jimmy channels his experiences into helping others. He has worked closely with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, connecting children battling cancer with supportive sports teams and mentoring them through their own journeys. His dedication to service is further reflected in his volunteer work at Nemours/AI duPont Hospital for Children, where he brought joy and normalcy to pediatric patients in the Child Life Department, and at Project C.U.R.E., where he helped prepare medical supplies for global distribution.
Jimmy’s professional development includes internships at Elite Physical Therapy, where he supported clinical staff in maintaining a clean and functional treatment space, and at BPG Sports (76ers Fieldhouse), where he contributed to sports marketing initiatives through research and data management. He earned a Certificate in Sport Media from Wilmington University in 2023 and is a proud three-time recipient of the Founder’s Circle Award at Centreville Layton School, in recognition of his character, leadership, and community impact.
Now in his mid-20s, Jimmy continues to live by the mantra “Never Give Up,” echoing the spirit of Jim Valvano. Whether through professional contribution or personal mentorship, Jimmy is driven to inspire others facing adversity and to demonstrate, every day, the power of perseverance.
