In the sport of golf, a mulligan is an extra stroke allowed after a poor shot, not counted on the scorecard. In essence it’s a second chance.
Second chances can sound rare but in reality life is full of them. The problem is not everyone seems to get them.
That’s where the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and Mulligan Moments comes in.
Anthony (pictured right) was diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a rare neurological disease when he was 3 months old. Doctors said he would never walk, talk, or even live to see today.
4 years ago, he was fortunate enough to be put on an exclusive epilepsy study (150 children in North America) that investigates the effects of CBD oil on seizure activity.
Since then his seizures have decreased significantly. Here he is defying the odds as I hand my mulligan bracelet to him as a symbol of hope. A second chance indeed.
While the goal of this movement is to raise both awareness for pediatric cancer and raise funds for pediatric cancer research, the theme of this movement is all about second chances.
Everyone deserves a second chance.
Everyone has a story to tell.
If you have ever given a second chance to someone, or have personally been handed a second chance in your life and wish to share your story for a great cause please reach out to me or the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation to keep this movement going!
It’s as simple as ordering a package of two wristbands and a mulligan card from the Friends of Jaclyn Website.
Post a picture of you wearing your bracelet with your mulligan and use the hashtag #MulliganMomentsFOJ
Thank you Friends of Jaclyn for sharing my Mulligan Moment!
In March 2004 my life changed in an instant, when I was diagnosed with a life threatening brain tumor. I went through hell and back, but I never gave up. Life handed me a seconded chance. In sports terms it's a Mulligan. I did not let my tumor define my life and my future. I take one day at a time and live in the moment and play in the moment everyday. I am so blessed and appreciate all the goodness in my life.
Today I would like to kick off a new movement we have going here at Friends of Jaclyn, to raise awareness for pediatric cancer awareness. The theme of this movement is all about second chances, life is always throwing us crazy twist and turns but, always know that there is always a second change. Either in life, a friendship, a relationship etc. We all have a story to tell and share with others. You never know how your story can impact someone else life.
If you share your story it may spark something in someone for them to share their story or even better give them the hope of going forward and call for a second chance aka a Mulligan.
Taking advantage of your second chance in life! Never thought I would walk away from this life threatening car accident at 19. I certainly never thought I would be giving Mulligans to children battling the beast on this journey called life.
Thank you Jaclyn and @fojfoundation for sharing my Mulligan Moment!
